TUBES
Tube quality is the most important thing to consider when replacing
the tubes in your power amplifier or pre-amp. The few dollars you can save on
inferior tubes could cost you hundreds later when a cheap tube shorts out your
output transformer or power section in a pyrotechnic display not unlike a seventies
Triumph concert. Also, when replacing output tubes make sure you have your amp
biased for the new tubes. If your amp cannot be biased, a QUALIFIED technician
will be able to install a variable bias control in your amplifier.
Sovtek tubes come in various grades,
but at Arbutus Music we only stock the premium grades. All of
the output tubes are sold in 24 hour burn-in, premium matched sets only, to
ensure the best sound, reliability and power out of your amplifier.

A(rmy) N(avy) tubes for the real tube-a-holic or for someone who
wants to get the very best performance out of their amplifier.
Other tubes available are Tesla from Czech. Rep., EI from Yugoslavia,
and Sino from China, however Chinese tubes are not recommended by
Arbutus Music. The quality is poor and in some cases these tubes can even
damage your amplifier. We can also source out hard to get and other vintage
tubes if needed.
